The volume of the bioeconomy has been increasing and will continue to expand in the coming years influenced by the growing shift towards sustainable products as well as the structural changes (e.g. introducing bio-based value chains to substitute the obsolete lignite value chains). Nonetheless, the size of bio-resources and the bioeconomy will not be unlimited and some technologies and products would become more important while other may diminish.
Due to the high number of bio-based technologies and products and the variety of fields within the bioeconomy, there is no clear roadmap regarding its shape in the future. Therefore, the workshop aims at envisaging the future of the bioeconomy in terms of the size, contribution of the different sectors (materials, fuels, chemicals, food, agriculture, etc.) and potential portfolios of bio-based products and technologies.
The event targets experts in the bioeconomy from different backgrounds in order to represent the diverse domains. Also, the interactive approach shall facilitate knowledge transfer between the experts and help in reaching a common conception about the future pathways. Therefore, the workshop can be an important milestone in prioritizing the potential research themes and conceptualizing future projects. Moreover, it will be a suitable platform to strengthen the network between the experts.
Registration is limited to invited experts.
