Center for Next Generation Processes and Products

The engineering bases for the use of renewable resources will be investigated in the biorefinery plant that is currently under construction.

Algae Science Center

The ‘Algae Science Center’, located at Forschungszentrum Jülich, enables growing of phototrophic algae and comparison of different cultivations as well as harvesting technologies on 1500m² area.

Jülich Phenotyping Center (JPPC)

Quantitative analysis of the plant phenome: our goals

To combine non-invasive sensors and automation to quantify shoot and root structure and function
To evaluate workflows for application to high-throughput towards systematic plant phenotyping
To integrate phenotyping routines and environmental monitoring including for growth-limiting conditions
To promote the wide adoption of best practices and standard procedures for plant phenotyping

Center for Structural Studies (CSS)

The CSS aims for scientific tasks within all areas of structure-supplying methods at an atomic level. The Center provides all steps as full-service as well as access to our infrastructure and scientific support.

Centrum für Chemische Polymertechnologie (CPT)

The CPT is operated as a DWI facility at the RWTH e.V. (DWI). In the department for polymer analysis, the CPT has state-of-the-art methods for analyzing the general causes for material deviation and material failure in the fields of plastics and film and fiber materials beyond a quality control.

Biomolecular NMR Center

With their highest- and high-field NMR spectrometers for liquid and solid-state NMR spectroscopy, the Biomolecular NMR Center at the Jülich Center and the HHU Düsseldorf offer excellent conditions for researching the structure of biologically and medically relevant proteins, such as determination of the high-resolution three-dimensional structure.

Kompetenzzentrum für organische Massenspektrometrie (BioSpec)

The main focuses of the BioSpec include the determination of structure of signaling substances and metabolites in plant and bacterial metabolism, the characterization of organic carbon in the ground, the characterization of proteins and the characterization of pyrolizable hydrocarbons in different matrices. Quantification and determination of C-14 activity in molecules round off the spectrum.

Jülich Supercomputing Center (JSC)

The Jülich Supercomputing Center offers computing capacity of the highest performance class for scientific simulations. In addition, there will be further development of the supercomputer and the technical infrastructure, for example for data storage, visualization systems and networks and software. Other essential tasks are user support and training.

Jülich Microbial Phenotyping Center (JMPC)

The JMPC offers a technology platform for the analysis of microbial strands, enzymes and bioprocesses. Linked to this is the development of new analytical tools. New bioprocesses can be optimized for the conversion of carbon into valuable products.

Microbial Bioprocess Lab (MiBioLab)

MiBioLab is a research laboratory and service provider for the miniaturization, automation and digitalization of bioprocess development. For our industrial customers, we work on questions of process optimization of microbial systems and provide on-site support for the implementation of their own automation platforms. In our research cooperations we go beyond the state of the art and develop innovative solutions for the acceleration of bioprocess development.

Jülich Centre for Structural Biology (JuStruct)

The JuStruct Centre uses state-of-the-art structural biologic methods to uncover the structur of proteins at atomatic scale.
