Structure of the BioSC

There are two kinds of membership within the Bioeconomy Science Center:

  • Core Groups (Kerngruppen)
  • Associate Groups (Assoziierte Gruppen)

Core Groups are institutes or departments of institutes belonging to partner institutions and conducting research primarily within the topics of the four key research areas or the cross-cutting topics of the BioSC.

Associate Groups are institutes or facilities from external, non-member institutions contributing essential parts of their research activities to the key research areas or cross-cutting topics of the BioSC. Other aspects of their research profiles do not belong to the bioeconomy topic.

Other important elements within the BioSC are:

  • projects for scientific cooperation for the extension of the scientific and technological competencies of the BioSC
  • cooperation projects with industrial partners for accelerating the transfer of knowledge and technologies into future markets
