Prof. Andrij Pich | RWTH Aachen | Functional and Interactive Polymers, Textile Chemistry, Macromolecular Chemistry

Research topics and profile (related to bioeconomy)

The research activities focus on synthesis of functional building blocks (macromonomers, polymers), development of new polymer colloids (nano- and microgels, hybrid or biohybrid particles) and design of interactive polymer-based materials. The specific targets are: a) controlled synthesis of functional polymer and hybrid colloids, asymmetrical particles, nanopigments, capsules; b) responsive nano- and microgels; and c) development of functional particle-based materials like colloidosomes, fibres or films for applications in catalysis, medicine and textile technology.

Contributions to BioSC

Workgroup has long-term experience in synthesis and characterisation of reactive polymers, hydrogels and polymer colloids. Functional polymers in combination with biomacromolecules are attractive building blocks for development of new encapsulation/release systems, switchable catalysts and responsive materials.
