Chemical products are more and more obtained from renewable resources. This change causes an increasing research demand especially for downstream and separation processes which contribute significantly to the investment and production costs and thereby determine the competitiveness of these processes. The research focus of the Chair of Fluid Process Engineering (AVT.FVT) is on the development and optimization of low-temperature separation processes like extraction, crystallization, adsorption and chromatography, especially for applications based on biomass.
The Institute for Fluid Process Engineering is involved in several BioSC projects and develops efficient and sustainable processes for the extraction of valuable components from biomass and the purification of streams from biomass pulping and fermentations respectively.
