Ladies and Gentlemen,
dear members, partners and friends,
we are pleased to present the new edition of the BioSC Newsletter. In 2019 there were again interesting developments in scientific cooperation. An important step was the establishment of the Competence Platform Economy and the Transform2Bio project, which investigates fundamental socio-economic transformations that are necessary for the establishment of a bioeconomy. The FocusLabs have successfully developed processes for bio-based value creation at different levels. Five new SEED FUND 2.0 projects, some of which are linked to the FocusLabs, started in September. The BioSC also welcomed two new Core Groups, which contribute their expertise in textile technology and production economics to the competence network.
Numerous BioSC events provided a framework for scientific exchange on bioeconomy topics, such as the International BioSC Symposium, which took place for the fourth time in November. At the subsequent BioSC Forum that followed, Dr. Thomas Drepper, HHU Düsseldorf, and and Dr. Stephan Noack, Forschungszentrum Jülich, were awarded the BioSC Supervision Award 2019.
The office wishes all BioSC members, friends and partners a Merry Christmas and a good start into the year 2020.
We hope you enjoy reading!
