The development and implementation of a sustainable bio-based economy are based on the education of young people. In all fields of the knowledge-based bioeconomy experts are urgently required today. Therefore, the BioSC aims for a transdisciplinary education of graduates at a top international level. The transfer of basic knowledge and the holistic understanding of bioeconomy challenges are therefore the main focus of the BioSC graduate education approach.

PhDs and young scients

In addition to research, the interdisciplinary further education of doctoral students is a core task of the BioSC. The aim of the training offers is to convey the competences and experiences of young scientists for the special interdisciplinary challenges in the bioeconomy.

PhDs and young scientists - within the BioSC -

With the aim of providing a comprehensive overview of the concept of the bioeconomy and interdisciplinary skills in addition to disciplinary expertise, interdisciplinary projects for doctoral students and a mentoring program for postdocs have been developed. Doctoral students can also nominate their direct supervisors for the Christian Patermann Award.

Students

Since 2022, with the support of the BioSC, the lecture series “Meet the Circular Economy” is being offered at RWTH Aachen University, where companies report first-hand on the challenges of developing and establishing circular and bio-based processes and discuss sustainability concepts in corporate and product development with the students.
