Towards a sustainable bioeconomy

2nd BioSC Forum in November 2015

Almost 200 participants joined the second BioSC Forum, which took place on 2. and 3. of November in Maternushaus in Cologne. All running and recently finished BOOST FUND und SEED FUND projects were presented by a talk or during the poster session.  The programme was divided into three thematic sessions: „Conversion of renewable resources to materials and bulk chemicals“, „Alternative production pathways for bio-based fine chemicals and scondary metabolites“ and „Innovations for the sustainable production of food and feed“. Furthermore, three White Paper and one concept about aquatic photosystems were presented. 

As a closing of the first day, the winners of the PhD Competence Award and the Supervision Award were honoured. Thiemo Zambanini from the Core Group of Prof. Lars Blank received the PhD award. In frame of the Supervision Award, Ljubica Vojcic (Core Group Prof. Ulrich Schwaneberg) and Dr. Nick Wierckx (Core Group Prof. Lars Blank) received a substantial funding to support their research.

The PhD Training Day took place in the afternoon of the second day. Topic of the workshop was „Interdisciplinary project preparation and proposal writing – From idea to proposal“.
