12. BioSC Forum (Internes Retreat)

Am 15. April 2026 fand das 12. BioSC-Forum in der Zentralbibliothek im Forschungszentrum Jülich statt. Nach der Begrüßung durch Heike Slusarczyk, Leiterin der BioSC Geschäftsstelle, stellten sich Boas Pucker und Johannes Rebelein als neue CoreGroup Leiter vor. Mit ihren Expertisen in den Bereichen Pflanzenbiotechnologie und Bioinformatik bzw. Molekulare Enzymtechnologie erweitern sie ab sofort die Kompetenzen und die wissenschaftlichen Themen des BioSC.

Ulrich Schurr, Sprecher des Geschäftsführenden Direktoriums, gab einen Überblick, wie das BioSC seit seiner Gründung maßgeblich zur Entwicklung einer Wissenschaftsregion mit Bioökonomie als Fokusfeld beiträgt. In einem Podiumsgespräch mit BioSC-Mitgliedern unterschiedlicher Karrierestufen wurde der Wert des BioSC durch persönliche Perspektiven und Erfahrungen deutlich. In anschließender Kleingruppenarbeit wurden diese Erkenntnisse vertieft und ergänzt.

Ein weiterer Fokus des Programms lag auf dem Fortschritt der laufenden Forschungsprojekte. Die Breite der im BioSC insgesamt adressierten wissenschaftlichen Themen wurde an diesem Tag einmal mehr deutlich. Die aktuellen Projekte zielen auf Themen wie innovativer Pflanzenanbau und Pflanzenschutz, Haltbarkeit von Nahrungsmitteln, Nutzbarmachung biologisch wirksamer Moleküle aus Pflanzen und Pilzen, neue biobasierte Materialien sowie innovative Prozesstechnologien und neue Feedstocks für die Bioraffinerie. Eine immer größere Rolle spielt die Optimierung von Enzymen, Produktionsorganismen und Nutzpflanzen mit Hilfe von synthetischer Biologie und Bioinformatik. Alle Projekte im Forschungsverbund BioSC werden auf der BioSC-Homepage mit Kurzbeschreibungen vorgestellt (www.biosc.de/forschen).

Im Verlauf des Tages gab es ausgiebig Raum für Diskussion, persönlichen Austausch und Vernetzung. Vielen Dank an alle Redner und Teilnehmer für die erfolgreiche Veranstaltung.
