Towards a sustainable bioeconomy

11th PhD Day NRW "Future Bioeconomy"

Smartly efficient - efficiently smart: Resilience in the Bioeconomy

15th October 2026 | 10:15 am - 04:30 pm  | Dorint Hotel, Düsseldorf

The goal is to gather young scientists from different scientific fields and locations in NRW, providing them a frame for networking and discussions about future developments and career paths in the bioeconomy.

Climate change, resource scarcity and fragile supply chains show that the bioeconomy of the future must be more than efficient. Intelligent, interconnected and resilient systems are needed to use biological resources sustainably, close material cycles and respond flexibly to global changes. A sustainable bioeconomy therefore requires adaptability to ensure long-term stability — for example through AI-supported processes, regional value creation, diversified biological raw materials, climate-resilient agriculture or diversified green energy.
